Making Change Makers
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a fleet of hundreds of modern day explorers, who are traveling overland in developing communities around the world, leaving a wake of positive change. This network together can lead to a significant impact on the world we visit, reducing poverty, improving health and inspiring others to do the same.

Our Mission

There is a growing community of people in the developed countries around the world, who have the means and the passion to get into their vehicles and explore this amazing planet that we live on. The Muskoka Foundation aims to leverage the unique strengths of this group:

  • large-capacity, off-road capable, corruption-free, zero-cost transportation infrastructure (their trucks)
  • on-the-ground presence actually interacting in/with the communities they wish to impact.
  • their skills / professional backgrounds (bankers, doctors, etc) that they can use to benefit those they meet
  • means to spend the time and money required to focus on helping those around them
  • passion to explore and improve the world

The Muskoka Foundation aims to “MAKE CHANGE MAKERS” by equipping this group of explorers with a proven overland travel positive impact framework, relevant development tools, and links to established partners, enabling them to carry out the positive activities on their trips

Intended Impact
The Muskoka Foundation will provide our partners of overland explorers with a framework, tools and partnerships, enabling them to carry out the positive activities on their trips.

Theory of Change

Through our extended network of 25 change agents roaming the planet, The Muskoka Foundation hopes to touch over 300 communities in the next five years.

We will have a positive impact on the developing communities around the world, by supplying the fleet of explorers with:

  1. the inspiration and know-how for making a positive trip,
  2. subsidized vehicles to help them get out into the field,
  3. volume sourced donation materials for them to leave as they go,
  4. funds to support their efforts
  5. partnership with existing organizations that can leverage their on-the-ground efforts
  6. toolkits supporting key practice areas of development, including:
    • entrepreneurship
    • healthcare
    • education
    • infrastructure
    • arts

The first phase of our efforts will be a round-the-world trip in the EcoRoamerONE, aiming to reach 50 countries over the next 3 years. On this initial voyage, we will test the model for the broader network of explorers, and develop this toolkit for the entrepreneurship practice.
